Come walk the Kinstone Labyrinth for World Labyrinth Day. We will NOT have a program, but rather, a dedicated time for a group walk of the labyrinth. Come and walk for peace!

World Labyrinth Day is an annual event sponsored by The Labyrinth Society. It is a worldwide action with participants gathering at labyrinths at 1:00pm local time to “Walk as One at One” to co-create a rolling wave of peaceful energy across the globe. Every year on the first Saturday in May thousands of people around the world participate in this moving meditation for world peace and celebration of the labyrinth experience.

This is a day to explore and experience labyrinths. Labyrinths have been created since ancient times and have been walked by people of all ages as a mindfulness activity, to focus, increase connectedness, calm anxiety, lull head chatter and promote mental and emotional wellbeing. Open yourself to the calming and centering space in your own inner landscape as you walk the path.

Please join all who gather to Walk as One at One at the Kinstone Labyrinth to celebrate World Labyrinth Day. Bring your kids, family, friends! No registration required, just pay your admission to Kinstone in advance online or pay in the Kinstone Gift Shop when you arrive (we accept cards, cash, paypal, and venmo). Plan to spend some time before or after enjoying the grounds.

This event will be held Rain or Shine! Dress for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes! Having said that, if it is storming with thunder, lightning and/or high winds, please take shelter and wait to walk until the storm has passed.

Important: The Kinstone Labyrinth is located down a steep hill and may not be accessible for persons who have difficulty walking hills and uneven terrain. If you are unable or would prefer not to walk, we will have labyrinth designs printed on paper that folks can use as finger labyrinths. You can pick up a paper labyrinth in the Education Center. Take it with you to use while sitting in the Dragon’s Keep, Chapel, or on the Porch of the Education Center. Please take it home with you or bring it back to the Education Center where it can be properly discarded. Thank you!!

WORLD LABYRINTH DAY = MAY 6, 2023

As stated by The Labyrinth Society, there are many ways to participate:

  • Walk a labyrinth at 1:00PM local time to co-create a rolling wave of peace passing from one time zone to the next around the globe.
  • Walk alone or with others
  • Let your fingers do the walking by using a finger labyrinth
  • Create labyrinth art
  • Build a permanent or temporary labyrinth

What is a labyrinth?  It is a single path, of ancient geometric form, leading the walker in to a center and back out again. The meandering nature of the path is a metaphor for life experience or perhaps a reflection of our desire to be grounded and find our way to “center” (i.e. become centered). A labyrinth is not to be confused with a maze. A maze is a problem to be solved and designed to create confusion and often frustration. The labyrinth is designed to provide calm, clarity, and harmony. The form of the labyrinth is ancient; it spans thousands of years and has been found on every continent except Antarctica.

Hunt for labyrinths wherever you roam by searching the “World Wide Labyrinth Locator” – check it out: how many can you find in your state? how about in your zip code? You may be surprised!
